Exodus 34:6, Psalm 103:3

What is God like?  Well, look at Jesus and you will see what God is like.  He is the exact representation of the Father.

However, even in the Old Testament, we get a clear picture of what God is like, which agrees with what we see in Jesus.

Exodus 34:6,

In the King James Bible this verse says:
And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

And in the New Living Translation it says:
The LORD passed in front of Moses, calling out, "Yahweh! The LORD! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.

So we see the wonderful gracious nature of the LORD here in the Old Testament.  The Lord God is good, only good.

Now in Psalm 103:3, we read how far reaching this goodness is.  It is all inclusive.

In the King James Bible this verse says:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases;

And in the New Living Translation it says:
He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.

Now let me stretch you a bit.
"all" mean "all", right?  OK, let's be consistent here.
If He forgives all my iniquities, then He heals all my diseases.
If He doesn't heal all my diseases, then He doesn't forgive all my iniquities.

Well, I'm believing that the Bible is true, and therefore, He forgives all my iniquities, and He heals all my diseases.

Which is more important?  Well, they are both very wonderful promises, but forgiving all my iniquities is vastly more important than any other promise.

Hey, ask Him to forgive you; and ask Him to heal you, too.

I love the LORD, the Lord God.

Why?

Well, of course because He first loved me.

But also because He is lovely, altogether lovely.
