Listen

At my grandson's wedding reception, I was asked to give some advice since Helen and I had been married the longest of any couple there. I was about to turn to my old favorite word, "Hallelujah".

But what came out instead was the word, "Listen". So, I hastily added, "to each other". And then worked the word "Hallelujah" in somehow.

In retrospect I can see that "Listen" is a very good word, and to listen to one's spouse is very good advice. And so, what I would like to do is build on this word "Listen" and say it this way:

1. Listen to each other. Yes, that's primary.

2. Listen to your parents. For they truly do love you. But, like AI, they can sometimes make mistakes.

3. Listen to the Lord God, your creator, your Shepherd, your healer. However, unlike AI, He doesn't make mistakes! We 'hear' him share with us primarily through the written word of God, which is the Bible, but also through wise, godly counselors, and even sometimes directly through our spirits/hearts.
