Not Just a Hobby

The pursuit of a relationship with the Lord God is not just a hobby to be indulged in on occasion (say at Christmas and Easter) or when nothing "really important" is pressing in. No, this relationship is life itself!

And I know some of you will agree, because you know Jesus loves you. You know Jesus is a Savior, (in fact, your Savior.)  You know Jesus shows us what Father God is like; He is the exact(!!) image of Father God! So, if we want to know what Father God is like, we can just look at Jesus! (Yes, in the Bible.)

"But, Larry, my life is already filled to the brim," you say. Well, I think I understand. I live in the same world as you do. I get tired, too. OK, I realize some of you with young families can get really, really, really busy! So, if you are just really busy these days, for whatever reason, the Lord God understands and will not ask impossible things from you! Anyway, He knows your heart!

However, let me ask all of you a question: Do you ever waste time? I do. Sometimes I just find myself scrolling through a news website, or Facebook, when I have "nothing better to do", (or when I'm tired.) Then I come to my senses and say, "Hey I have better things to do than this."

I have some good news for you: God (The Lord God/Father God/Jesus/The Holy Spirit) is pursuing a relationship with YOU, too! So, relax! Say, "Yes Lord", and let Him in. He doesn't want either establishing or strengthening a relationship with Him to be difficult for you! He is doing the "heavy lifting".

OK, full disclosure: This is not just a one and done thing. With the Lord coming into your life, He's got some really good ideas of how you can live much better and He brings the strength to implement these changes (but you need to ask for the strength and the will to do it. OK? Just ask!)

For example, He will give you the ability to forgive other people. You know you need to do that for your own sake, right? Another example: He will give you the ability to love others and not cheat them. Another example: He will give you the ability to tell the truth!

Hallelujah! This is life as it was originally designed to be!
